Apple Crumb - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    6 large or 12 medium baking apples, peeled, cored and sliced
    2 c. sugar
    2 tsp. ground cinnamon
    1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
    1 c. margarine
    1 c. packed brown sugar
    1 1/2 c. flour
    1 1/2 c. dry oatmeal
    1/2 tsp. baking soda
    1/2 tsp. salt
Preparation
    Put apples, sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg in saucepan.
    Cook and stir until apples are softened; set aside.
    In mixing bowl, cream margarine and brown sugar.
    Combine flour, oats, baking soda and salt.
    Add to creamed mixture.
    Pat 1/2 of flour mixture in the bottom of a greased 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan.
    Spread apples over top.
    Crumble remaining flour mixture over apples.
    Bake at 400\u00b0 for 25 to 30 minutes or until golden brown.
    Serve with ice cream, if desired.
    Serves approximately 14 to 16 (recipe can be halved).
