German Chocolate Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    1/2 c. boiling water
    1 bar German sweet chocolate
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 tsp. soda
    2 1/2 c. flour
    1 c. shortening or 2 sticks butter
    4 eggs
    pinch of salt
    1 c. buttermilk
Preparation
    Cream butter and sugar; add one egg yolk at a time.
    Beat; dissolve chocolate in boiling water, then add to mixture flour and milk alternately.
    Add soda to last 1/3 cup milk, then add to mixture.
    Add vanilla and salt, then fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.
    Bake in greased pans at 350\u00b0 for 30 minutes.
