1 2/3 c. sifted all-purpose flour
1 3/4 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. ground cardamon
1/4 c. butter, softened
3/4 c. sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp. vanilla
2/3 c. milk
2 c. frozen unsweetened blackberries, thawed and drained
2 Tbsp. sugar
whipped cream
Preparation

Sift flour, baking powder, salt and cardamon onto wax paper. Beat butter and 3/4 cup sugar until creamy.
Beat in egg and vanilla until smooth and light.
Add milk alternately with flour mixture to the butter and sugar, beating just to mix thoroughly. Spread less than half the batter in a buttered 9 x 11 1/2-inch pan.
Sprinkle with half the berries.
Spoon remaining batter evenly over the berries; smooth with a spatula.
Sprinkle with remaining berries, then top with the 2 tablespoons sugar.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 45 minutes, or until center springs back when lightly pressed with fingertip.
Cool slightly on wire rack.
Serve warm with whipped cream.
