Ingredients

1 c. shortening
1/2 c. brown sugar, packed
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. chopped nuts
Preparation

Mix shortening, brown sugar, egg yolks and vanilla.
Blend together flour and salt.
Stir into first mixture.
Roll dough into balls (using teaspoon ball).
Beat egg whites separately; with fork, dip balls into egg whites.
Roll into nuts.
Place about 1 inch apart on ungreased pan; press thumbprint in and bake 10 to 12 minutes at 350\u00b0.
