Hayden Salad - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 gal. ripe tomatoes
1 gal. cabbage
1 qt. onions
1 doz. bell peppers
1 c. salt (canning salt)
4 lb. sugar
3 tsp. dried mustard
2 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. celery seed
1 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. turmeric
1 1/2 qt. vinegar
1 tsp. cloves
Preparation
-
Grind all
of
the
first
4
ingredients.
Cover
with canning salt and let stand for 2 hours. Squeeze out salt.
Add remaining ingredients and cook for
about
40 to 45 minutes or until thick enough to can.
Pack
into jars and seal.
Process according to recommendations.
