Fudge Cake - cooking recipe

4 sq. Baker's unsweetened chocolate
1/2 c. hot water
1 3/4 c. sugar
2 c. sifted cake flour
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. salt
1/2 c. vegetable shortening
3 eggs
3/4 c. milk*
Preparation

To use butter or margarine instead of shortening, decrease milk to 2/3 cup.
