Ingredients

2 large apples
1 tsp. salt
1 1/2 c. flour
4 to 6 Tbsp. cold water
1/2 c. melted butter
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. sugar
3/4 c. water
Preparation

Cut apples into 8 wedges each.
Sift salt and flour; cut in shortening.
Sprinkle cold water over; mix well.
Form ball; roll out to 16 (1 x 10-inch) strips.
Wrap one strip around each apple wedge.
Arrange in 13 x 9-inch pan.
Brush with butter; sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon mixture.
Pour water around pastries. Bake at 450\u00b0 for 25 to 30 minutes.
Makes 16.
