Tomato Sauce With Ground Beef(Makes Approximately 6 To 7 Cups Of Sauce) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 Tbsp. olive oil
    1 medium chopped onion
    3 cloves garlic, crushed or minced
    1 lb. lean ground beef
    1 (28 oz.) can Italian style plum tomatoes (with juices), cut up with scissors
    1 (28 oz.) can crushed tomatoes
    1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste
    2 c. water
    2 Tbsp. coarsely chopped parsley
    1 tsp. dried basil
    1 tsp. oregano
    1/4 to 1/2 tsp. coarsely ground pepper
    1 whole bay leaf
    salt to taste
Preparation
    Heat oil in a large heavy saucepan; add onion and saute over low heat, stirring until tender and golden, about 5 minutes.
    Add the garlic; saute 1 minute.
    In the meantime, brown the beef in a skillet, stirring to crumble meat; drain off fat and add to the onion mixture.
    Add tomatoes, 2 cups water, tomato paste and all of the spices.
    Heat over a medium-low heat to simmering.
    Simmer uncovered over a low heat, stirring occasionally, for 1 hour and 15 minutes.
    Sauce will thicken as it cooks.
