Corn Bread Loaf - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. cornmeal
    1/2 c. all-purpose flour
    2 Tbsp. sugar
    2 tsp. baking powder
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1 egg, beaten
    1/2 c. milk
    2 Tbsp. shortening, melted
Preparation
    In a bowl, combine the cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.
    In another bowl, blend egg, milk and shortening; stir into dry ingredients.
    Pour into a greased 8 x 4 inch loaf pan. Bake at 425\u00b0 for 15-18 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean.
    Cool in the pan for 10 minutes before removing to a wire rack.
    Serve warm.
