Grandma Bettie'S Gingerbread - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 1/2 c. flour, sifted
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. ground ginger
3/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. sugar
1 egg, unbeaten
1 c. molasses
1 c. hot water
confectioners sugar
Preparation

Preheat oven to 350\u00b0.
Grease the bottom of a 9 x 9 x 2-inch pan.
Sift together flour, baking soda, cloves, cinnamon, ginger and salt.
Cream together thoroughly the butter and sugar.
Add the egg; beat until light and fluffy.
Beat in molasses.
Add flour mixture with hot water until mixture is just smooth.
The batter will be very thin.
Turn batter into pan.
Bake 50 to 55 minutes. Remove the pan and cool on a rack.
Sprinkle with confectioners sugar.
