Date And Nut Bread No. 1 - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 c. chopped dates
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. boiling water
1 c. chopped walnut meats
1 Tbsp. butter
1/2 c. sugar
1 egg
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
pinch of salt
Preparation

Sprinkle the baking soda over the dates, then pour the boiling water over all and let cool.
Cream butter and sugar together with the egg.
Add the sifted dry ingredients and nuts.
Mix with the dates and water and pour into a loaf tin.
Bake 1 hour in a moderate oven (350\u00b0).
