Tomatoes En Casserole - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 cans stewed tomatoes *
    1/4 c. butter
    1 medium onion, chopped
    1 medium bell pepper, chopped
    2 c. day old bread crumbs
    1 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. basil
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    4 tsp. sugar
Preparation
    Cook onion and bell pepper in butter until tender (about 5 minutes).
    Add all of the remaining ingredients. Mix.
    Place in casserole dish.
    Top with buttered bread crumbs.**
    Bake in 375\u00b0 oven 30 minutes until hot and bubbly.
    Serves 6.
    This is good hot or cold.
