Lemon Buttermilk Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 1/2 c. sugar
    1 c. shortening
    1 stick butter
    4 eggs
    3 c. sifted flour
    1 c. buttermilk
    1 Tbsp. hot water
    1/2 tsp. soda
    1 Tbsp. lemon extract
Preparation
    Cream shortening, sugar and butter well.
    Add eggs and beat well.
    Sift flour and soda together.
    Beginning with the flour, mix the flour and buttermilk, alternately, small amounts at a time into the shortening mixture, beating well after each addition. Add the lemon extract and the hot water.
    Beat well.
    Pour into a greased and floured tube pan.
    Bake 30 minutes at 350\u00b0.
    Decrease heat to 250\u00b0 and bake 45 minutes or until done.
    Turn cake on cooling rack and spread with lemon sauce (juice of 1 lemon, 1 cup confectioners sugar and parched pecans).
