Split Pea Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. (2 1/4 c.) dry green split peas
    2 qt. water
    1 meaty ham bone (1 lb.)
    1 c. chopped onion
    1/4 tsp. garlic salt
    1/4 tsp. dried marjoram
    1 c. chopped celery
    1 c. chopped carrot
Preparation
    In large saucepan, soak peas overnight in water (or combine peas and water).
    Bring to boil, about 2 minutes.
    Add ham bone, onion, garlic salt, marjoram and dash of black pepper to pea mixture.
    Bring to boiling.
    Reduce heat and simmer, covered, for 2 hours, stirring constantly.
    Remove ham bone.
    Cut off meat.
    Dice meat.
    Add to soup, along with remaining ingredients.
    Cook until vegetables are tender.
