Creole Chocolate Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. strong boiling coffee
    2 1/4 sq. unsweetened chocolate
    2 5/8 c. cake flour
    2 c. sugar
    1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1 1/2 tsp. soda
    1 1/2 tsp. salt
    1 1/8 tsp. cloves
    1/2 c. plus 1 Tbsp. shortening
    3/4 c. sour milk
    3/4 tsp. vanilla
    1/2 to 3/4 c. unbeaten eggs
Preparation
    Pour coffee over chocolate.
    Cool.
    Sift together flour, sugar, baking powder, soda, salt and cloves.
    Add shortening, cooled chocolate mixture, milk and vanilla.
    Beat two minutes with electric mixer on medium speed.
    Add eggs and beat two more minutes.
    Pour into two 9-inch layer pans.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 30 to 35 minutes.
    Frost with White Mountain Icing.
