Ingredients

2/3 c. shortening
1 1/4 c. sugar
2 eggs
3 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking powder
grated rind of 1 orange
1 Tbsp. orange juice
Preparation

Cream the shortening, sugar and 2 eggs together until light and foamy.
Sift flour, salt and baking powder together and add to first mixture.
Add orange juice and rind.
Mix until smooth. Chill. roll to 1/4-inch thickness on slightly floured board.
Cut with cookie cutter.
Sprinkle with sugar and bake in moderate oven at 350\u00b0 for 12 to 15 minutes.
Yields 60 cookies.
