Bread And Butter Pickles(8 Pints) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 qt. (16 c.) sliced cucumbers
    6 medium white onions, sliced
    2 chopped green peppers
    3 cloves garlic
    1/2 c. salt
    5 c. sugar
    1 1/2 tsp. turmeric
    1 1/2 tsp. celery seed
    2 Tbsp. mustard seed
    3 c. vinegar
Preparation
    Do not peel cucumbers.
    Slice cucumbers, then add onions, peppers, garlic and salt.
    Cover with cracked ice; mix.
    Let stand for 3 hours; drain.
    Combine remaining ingredients; pour over cucumbers.
    Heat to a boil; seal in hot, sterilized jars.
