"Winter" Strone Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3/4 c. Great Northern beans
    2 1/2 c. water
    1/2 can beef, rinsed
    1/2 c. onion, chopped
    1 can tomatoes
    3 1/2 c. water
    1 tsp. oregano
    1/4 tsp. garlic powder
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    2 bay leaves
    1/2 c. macaroni, uncooked
    1/2 can corn
    1/2 can green beans
    1/2 can carrots
Preparation
    Bring water to a boil, add beans and boil for 2 minutes. Remove from heat, cover and soak 1 hour or overnight in refrigerator.
    Cook beef and onion in hot frying pan until beef is warmed.
    Stir beef mixture into beans.
    Bring bean mixture to a boil.
    Reduce heat, cover and boil gently until beans are tender (1 to 1 1/2 hours).
    Break up large pieces of tomatoes.
    Add tomatoes and remaining ingredients, except macaroni, to bean mixture.
