Butterscotch Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sugar, reserve 2 Tbsp.
    2 Tbsp. butter
    2 Tbsp. cream
    4 Tbsp. flour
    1/4 c. milk
    2 egg yolks
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1 3/4 c. milk
Preparation
    Put 1 cup (minus 2 tablespoons) sugar in heavy skillet with butter and cream.
    On medium heat, brown to a dark golden syrup. Stir and watch closely.
    Combine flour, 2 tablespoons sugar and 1/4 cup milk and mix well.
    Add egg yolks, salt, vanilla and remaining milk.
    Pour into syrup and cook slowly until smooth.
    If not thick enough, a little more flour mixed with small quantity of milk to make paste may be added now.
    Cook, then pour into baked pie shell.
    Cover with meringue and bake about 400\u00b0 for 10 minutes.
