Ingredients

1 egg, beaten
1 c. brown sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. shortening
2 (1 oz.) squares unsweetened chocolate, melted
1 2/3 c. cake flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. sweet or sour milk
1/2 c. broken walnuts
Preparation

Beat egg and sugar until light; add vanilla, shortening and melted chocolate; blend well.
Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with milk; add nuts.
Drop small portions 2-inches apart on greased cookie sheet.
Bake in 350\u00b0 oven for 10 to 12 minutes.
Makes 2 1/2 dozen.
Cool.
Then frost with Mocha Chocolate Frosting.
