Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 gal. sliced cucumbers
2 c. sliced onions
1/2 c. salt
4 c. sugar
1 Tbsp. turmeric
4 Tbsp. white mustard seed
1 tsp. celery seed
2 qt. cider vinegar
Preparation

Cucumbers should be fresh and washed thoroughly.
Do not peel. Slice cucumbers and onions very thinly in a large pan.
Mix with salt and vinegar and let stand at least 3 hours.
Drain, nearly dry.
Mix the rest of the ingredients together.
Pour over cucumbers and onions.
Place over low heat to simmer point.
Do not allow to boil.
Place in hot jars and seal.
