Ingredients

1 c. sugar
3/4 c. shortening
1 egg
4 Tbsp. molasses
salt
2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. ginger
2 tsp. soda
2 1/2 c. sifted flour
Preparation

Cream sugar and shortening.
Add egg and molasses, then add all the other sifted dry ingredients.
Chill either overnight or for a couple of hours.
Make into balls.
Dip one side into sugar and press out with fork on cookie sheet.
