Cherokee Squash Casserole - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 lb. yellow squash
    1 large onion, chopped
    3 Tbsp. bacon grease
    2 c. sharp cheese, grated
    1/2 stick butter or margarine
    4 Tbsp. cornstarch
    1 tsp. salt
    cracked white pepper
    1 c. buttered bread crumbs
Preparation
    Cook together in boiling salted water until tender the squash, onion and bacon grease.
    Drain and mash well.
    Add while hot the grated cheese and butter or margarine.
    Add cornstarch, salt and pepper.
    Top with buttered bread crumbs.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 45 minutes.
