Sweet Relish - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    8 to 10 sweet green and/or red peppers
    8 to 10 lb. green tomatoes
    6 large onions
    1 bunch celery
    1 small head cabbage
    1/2 c. salt
    1 qt. vinegar
    4 c. sugar
    1 Tbsp. turmeric
    4 Tbsp. mustard seed
Preparation
    Wash and seed peppers.
    Remove tops from tomatoes.
    Peel onions; remove \"strings\" from celery and discard tops; remove core from cabbage.
    Put all veggies through coarse chopper on food processor.
    Put chopped veggies in large container (not aluminum) and add the 1/2 cup salt.
    Mix well.
    Cover and let set overnight. Next day, rinse veggies with cold water.
    Drain.
    Cook veggies in large pot with remaining ingredients until tender, about 45 minutes, being careful not to scorch; cook on medium heat.
    Pack in hot jars and seal.
