Jumbo Apple Dumplings(6 Servings) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    1 1/2 c. water
    1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
    1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
    3 Tbsp. butter or margarine
    ice cream or cream
Preparation
    In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder and salt. Using a pastry blender, cut in the shortening until it is about the size of small peas.
    Sprinkle 1 tablespoon of the milk over a part of the mixture; gently toss with a fork.
    Push to side of bowl. Repeat until all is moistened.
    Divide into 6 equal portions.
    Form each into a ball; cover and set aside.
    On a lightly floured surface, roll out each portion of dough into a 7 1/2 to 8-inch circle, trimming uneven edges.
    Place an apple in the center of each circle of dough.
