Apricot Nut Bars - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. butter
    1/2 c. sugar
    1 tsp. grated lemon peel
    2 egg yolks
    1 c. sifted flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. soda
    apricot preserves
    2 egg whites
    1/4 c. sugar
    1/2 c. chopped nuts
Preparation
    Cream the butter, sugar and peel. Add egg yolks, one at a time.
    Sift dry ingredients and stir into creamed mixture.
    Mix well. Spread dough in greased 9 x 13-inch pan. Cover dough with apricot preserves.
    Beat egg whites. Slowly add 1/4 cup sugar, beating well after each addition.
    Beat until stiff. Fold in chopped nuts.
    Spread over apricot layer. Bake at 350\u00b0 for 25 minutes.
    When cool, sprinkle with powdered sugar and cut in small squares.
