Cream Of Fresh Tomato Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. chopped ripe tomatoes
    1/4 c. chopped onion
    1 small bay leaf
    1/2 tsp. sugar
    1/2 tsp. salt
    dash of pepper
    2 Tbsp. butter
    2 Tbsp. flour
    2 c. milk
    2 Tbsp. chopped fresh basil (optional)
    chopped green onion (optional)
Preparation
    In saucepan, simmer tomatoes, onion and bay leaf.
    Add sugar, salt and pepper for 10 minutes.
    Run through sieve and set aside. In saucepan, melt butter.
    Add flour and cook about 2 minutes.
    Add milk at once.
    Cook; stirring until thick, add salt and pepper to white sauce.
    Slowly stir in tomato mixture.
    Garnish with green onion if you wish and basil.
    Yields 4 cups.
