Shaker Pickles - cooking recipe
Ingredients

3 qt. (12 c.) unpeeled cucumbers
3 1/2 c. sugar
3 c. vinegar
1 Tbsp. turmeric
1/3 c. salt
1 Tbsp. celery seed
1 Tbsp. dried mustard or mustard seed
1 Tbsp. alum
Preparation

Mix together all ingredients.
Do not heat.
Put cucumbers in gallon jar.
Pour liquid mixture over cucumbers.
Let set 3 to 4 days, shaking often.
Will keep in refrigerator indefinitely.
You can add onions for flavor.
