Penuche - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. granulated sugar
    1 c. packed brown sugar
    1/3 c. light cream
    1/3 c. milk
    2 Tbsp. butter or margarine
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1/2 c. broken pecans
Preparation
    Butter sides of heavy 2-quart saucepan.
    Combine sugars, cream, milk and butter or margarine.
    Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until sugars dissolve and mixture comes to boiling.
    Cook to soft ball stage (238\u00b0), stirring only if necessary.
    Immediately remove from heat and cool to lukewarm until candy becomes very thick and starts to lose its gloss. Quickly stir in nuts and spread in buttered shallow pan.
    Score in squares while warm, cut when firm.
