Caramel Candy - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    1/4 c. sugar (to brown)
    1 c. milk
    2/3 stick margarine
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
    1/2 to 1 c. nuts
Preparation
    Have all ingredients at room temperature.
    Boil milk and 2 cups sugar over low heat.
    Add browned sugar.
    Melt margarine and add to mixture.
    Cook until mixture forms a soft ball when poured into cold water.
    Add nuts and vanilla.
    Set aside to cool.
    Then beat until smooth and thick.
    Pour into buttered dish.
    Cut into squares.
