Country Corn Bread - cooking recipe

1 1/2 c. self-rising corn meal
1/2 c. flour
1 egg
2 Tbsp. Crisco or shortening
1 1/2 c. buttermilk
Preparation

Heat oven to 450\u00b0.
Melt shortening in iron skillet.
Mix corn meal, flour, egg and buttermilk.
Stir in melted shortening.
Pour mixture into hot skillet where shortening was melted.
Bake in oven for 30 to 35 minutes until top is brown and sides pull away from pan.
