Sopaipillas(Fried Bread) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 c. flour
    3 tsp. baking powder
    3 tsp. sugar
    3 Tbsp. vegetable shortening
    1 tsp. salt
Preparation
    Sift flour, baking powder, salt and sugar. Cut in shortening, adding enough water to make a dry dough (about 1 3/4 cups).
    Let dough stand about 20 minutes.
    Roll out on floured board 1/4-inch thick and cut into 3-inch squares.
    Deep fry in hot fat until golden brown.
    Makes about 4 dozen.
