Sauerkraut Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 1/2 c. water
    4 medium potatoes, cubed
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 lb. smoked sausage links, sliced
    1 (16 oz.) can sauerkraut (undrained)
    1 medium onion, chopped
    1 clove garlic, minced
    1 to 2 tsp. dried dill weed
    1/2 tsp. caraway seed
    1 c. sour cream
    1 Tbsp. flour
    salt and pepper to taste
    sugar (optional)
Preparation
    In a large pot, bring water, potatoes and salt to a boil. Reduce heat and cook until potatoes are tender.
    Add sliced sausage, undrained sauerkraut, onion, garlic, dill and caraway. Bring to a boil.
    Combine sour cream and flour.
    Stir 1 cup of the hot mixture into the sour cream mixture.
    Return all of the sour cream mixture to the large pot.
    Blend well.
    Heat through, but do not boil.
    Season to taste with salt and pepper.
    Add a few teaspoons sugar if a less tart flavor is desired.
