Dave'S Chili - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 lb. ground round or chuck
    1 medium onion, chopped fine
    1/4 tsp. garlic powder
    1 lb. tomatoes, diced
    2 Tbsp. chili powder
    1/2 tsp. ground cumin
    1 1/2 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. sugar
    1 tsp. black pepper
    4 c. tomato juice
    1/2 tsp. red pepper sauce (optional)
    2 cans light red kidney beans, drained
    1 1/2 Tbsp. masa flour or cornstarch
Preparation
    Cook ground beef, onion and garlic powder until beef is light brown and onion is tender; drain.
    Add tomatoes, chili powder, cumin, salt, sugar, pepper, tomato juice and red pepper sauce, if desired.
    Heat to boiling; reduce heat.
    Cover and simmer 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
    Stir in beans.
    Heat to boiling.
    For thicker chili add Masa flour or cornstarch and stir well.
    Reduce heat; simmer for an additional 15 minutes.
    Serve with shredded Cheddar or Colby Jack cheese.
