Brown Sugar Crumb Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. brown sugar
    2 1/2 c. flour
    1/2 c. shortening
    1 c. buttermilk
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1 egg
Preparation
    Work together brown sugar, flour and shortening until grainy. Remove 1 cup for top crumbs and put aside.
    Add remaining ingredients and mix well.
    Pour into well-greased and floured 8 or 9-inch pan.
    Add remaining crumbs across top.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 25 minutes.
    Makes one (8 or 9-inch) cake or 2 dozen cupcakes. Double recipe for 9 x 13-inch pan.
