My Own Beef Stroganoff - cooking recipe
Ingredients
-
2 1/2 lb. sirloin (or any steak) 1/2-inch thick
1 large or 2 medium onions (chopped fine)
1 large can or 3/4 lb. sliced mushrooms (dried)
1 1/2 cloves garlic (crushed)
3/4 c. butter
1 to 1 1/2 cans beef consomme (undiluted)
1 to 1 1/2 pt. sour cream
3/4 to 1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper
1 tsp. paprika
2 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
2 c. seasoned flour (salt, pepper, garlic salt, lemon pepper, self-rising flour to taste)
Preparation
-
Beat steak with cola bottle top on both sides.
Cut steak in thin strips; dredge in seasoned flour.
Saute onions, mushrooms and garlic in 1/2 cup butter about 4 minutes.
Add remaining butter and meat, cook for about 3 more minutes (stirring continuously). Remove from heat and remove steak and vegetables.
Pour all but about 6 tablespoons of drippings in cup.
Add 3 tablespoons of flour and mix with drippings left in pan.
Add consomme.
Stir until thick but smooth.
Add sour cream, salt, pepper and paprika and Worcestershire sauce.
Stir and cook on medium-low heat until well blended.
