"Quakers"(Makes 4 Dozen) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. brown sugar
    1 c. shortening
    2 eggs, beaten
    2 c. flour
    3 c. quick Quaker oats
    1 1/2 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. salt
    2 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Cream sugar and shortening; add beaten eggs and vanilla.
    Sift flour, soda and salt.
    Stir in oats, then add dry ingredients. Beat well.
    Put 1/4 cup sugar in small bowl.
    Dip fingers into sugar; pinch off a bit of dough and roll into size and shape of walnut.
    Roll in sugar.
    Place on greased cookie sheet 3 inches apart.
    Bake at 375\u00b0 for 12 to 15 minutes.
    Makes 4 dozen large thick cookies.
