Plain Pastry(My Most Used Pastry; Never Fails) - cooking recipe
Ingredients
- 
                            2 c. all-purpose flour
 
1 tsp. salt
1/2 to 2/3 c. shortening (lard or Crisco)
6 Tbsp. ice water
Preparation
- 
                            Cheese pastry is excellent for apple or cherry pie.
 
In making cheese
pastry,
use
Plain
Pastry
recipe increasing shortening by
1 tablespoon.
Add 1/3 cup grated sharp cheese. (An aged cheese is best for this.) Stir the grated cheese into the shortening-flour mixture
and continue mixing as for Plain Pastry.
