Ingredients

3 to 4 large onions
2 to 3 c. buttermilk or ice water
1 egg, beaten
1 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
2/3 c. water
1 c. all-purpose flour
1 Tbsp. salad oil

Preparation

Peel onions and slice 3/8-inch thick.
Separate into rings. Pour buttermilk or ice water into shallow pan; add onion rings and allow to soak 30 minutes.
