George Washington Cherry Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    1/2 c. butter
    1/8 tsp. salt
    1 c. sour cherries
    1 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. cloves
    1 c. sour milk
    2 eggs, beaten
    2 c. flour
    3/4 c. chopped nuts
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1 tsp. nutmeg
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Cream the butter and sugar well. Add beaten eggs and beat again.
    Add soda and sour milk, then stir flour, spices and milk alternately to creamed mixture. Simmer cherries on stove and sweeten to taste.
    Cool. Drain cherry juice off and add cherries, vanilla and nuts to the ingredients.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 30 to 35 minutes.
