Pepper Nuts (Pfeffernuesse) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. plus 2 Tbsp. dark brown sugar (1/2 lb.)
    2 sticks butter (1/2 lb.)
    2 c. sorghum or dark molasses
    2 eggs
    1 tsp. soda
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    1/4 tsp. cloves
    1/2 tsp. allspice
    juice of 1 lemon
    1 tsp. oil of anise or pure anise extract
    1 c. chopped almonds
    flour (to make real stiff)
Preparation
    Cream sugar and butter.
    Add sorghum and eggs.
    Mix in remainder of ingredients, using all the flour you can knead in. Chill overnight in refrigerator.
