Turtle Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 pkg. German chocolate cake mix
    14 oz. bag caramels
    3/4 c. evaporated milk
    1/2 c. margarine
    6 oz. chocolate chips
    6 oz. walnuts
Preparation
    Prepare cake mix according to directions.
    Pour 1/3 of batter into greased 9 x 13-inch pan and bake 15 minutes at 350\u00b0.
    Combine caramels, milk and margarine in a double boiler until blended, stirring often.
    Pour over first layer of baked cake.
    Pour rest of batter over caramel layer and sprinkle with chips and walnuts. Bake at 350\u00b0 for 45 minutes.
    When cool, frost with Cool Whip.
