Hoppin John - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. black-eyed peas
    1 medium onion, chopped fine
    1/4 lb. streaked meat
    1 c. cooked rice
Preparation
    Cook peas (1 part water to 1 part peas), covered with meat, chopped onion and salt and pepper to taste until peas are tender. Add more water, if needed.
    Add rice, 1 tablespoon butter and red pepper (pinch). Simmer together for 15 minutes and serve.
