Apple Cheese Turnovers - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. unsifted flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    12 oz. (3 c.) shredded Cheddar cheese, divided
    1/4 c. butter
    1/4 c. cold water
    1 (21 oz.) can apple pie filling
    3/4 tsp. apple pie spice
    1 egg white, lightly beaten
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 400\u00b0.
    In a medium bowl, combine flour and salt.
    With a pastry blender or 2 knives, cut in 1 1/2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese and butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
    Sprinkle with water.
    Stir with a fork until dough clings together.
    Shape into a ball.
    With a floured rolling pin, roll dough on a lightly floured board to 1/8-inch thickness.
    Using the tip of a sharp knife, cut around a 6 1/2-inch saucer to form 6 circles.
    Reserve pastry scraps.
