Banana Cream Cake - cooking recipe

1/2 c. shortening
2 c. sifted flour
1 1/3 c. granulated sugar
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. salt
1/4 to 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 c. mashed, ripe banana
1/4 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
1/2 c. chopped walnuts
1 c. sour cream
1/3 c. brown sugar
broken walnuts
Preparation

Stir shortening just to soften.
Sift in dry ingredients.
Add banana, milk and vanilla; mix until all flour is dampened, then beat vigorously for 2 minutes.
Add eggs and beat 2 minutes longer.
Stir in finely chopped nuts.
Bake in a greased and floured pan (12 1/2 x 7 1/2 x 2-inch baking dish) in a moderate oven (325\u00b0) for 30 to 35 minutes or until done.
