German Red Cabbage - cooking recipe
Ingredients

6 slices bacon, cut in small pieces
1 onion, chopped
1 large head red cabbage, sliced
3 unpeeled apples, cut into cubes
5 to 7 Tbsp. sugar
5 to 7 Tbsp. apple cider vinegar
1 tsp. caraway seed
salt and pepper to taste
Preparation

Brown bacon and chopped onion. Add cabbage, apples, salt, pepper, sugar, vinegar and caraway seeds. Cook until cabbage is soft, about 2 hours, on medium-low heat. Add additional sugar and vinegar if necessary. If the cabbage becomes dry, add water. The cabbage will have a sweet and sour taste.
