Spice Crumb Apple Pie - cooking recipe

2 c. flour
2/3 c. shortening
1 tsp salt
3 Tbsp cold water
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
6 c. apples, peeled and sliced
2 Tbsp flour
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. sugar
2 Tbsp butter
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/4 c. sugar
Preparation

Mix and sift 2 c. flour and the salt.
Cut in shortening until mixture is coarse like cornmeal.
Divide in half.
Sprinkle water over half of mixture and blend only until moistened and crumbly. Turn out on a pastry board and roll lightly.
Line an 8 inch pie pan and flute the edges.
To remaining portion of crumbs add 1/4 c. sugar, 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon and 1/2 tsp nutmeg.
Set aside.
Mix remaining sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg and flour together.
Sprinkle some on unbaked crust.
Alternate layers of apples and crumbs.
Dot top with butter and sprinkle with remaining crumbs.
Bake in a 425\u00b0 oven 50 to 55 minutes, or until apples are tender.
