Ingredients

3/4 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. flour, sifted
2 c. milk
3 egg yolks
2 Tbsp. butter
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. whole fresh strawberries
Preparation

Combine sugar, flour and salt.
Add milk.
Cook over medium heat until thickened, stirring constantly.
Slowly stir half the mixture into well beaten egg yolks.
Beat egg mixture into remaining hot mixture in saucepan.
Cook 2 minutes.
Add butter and vanilla.
Cool.
Fold in strawberries.
Pour into 9-inch baked pie shell.
Top with meringue, if desired.
