Ingredients

10 oz. French or Italian bread without seeds
8 large eggs
4 tsp. sugar
3/4 tsp. salt
1 Tbsp. vanilla
2 Tbsp. margarine
Preparation

Grease as 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking dish.
Cut bread into 1-inch slices and arrange in one layer in bottom of dish.
In bowl, beat eggs with remaining ingredients, except margarine.
When mixed, pour over bread in dish.
Cover with foil and refrigerate for 4 to 36 hours.
To bake, uncover, dot bread with 2 tablespoons of margarine and put pan in oven.
Turn oven to 350\u00b0 and bake 45 to 50 minutes or until bread is puffy and lightly brown.
Let stand 5 minutes before serving.
Makes 8 servings.
