Ingredients

1/4 c. butter
1 1/2 lb. sliced onions
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp. sugar
2 Tbsp. flour
dash of pepper
4 c. water
4 (10 1/2 oz.) cans Campbell's beef consomme (not broth)
sherry to taste (1/4 c.; we use Harvey's Bristol Cream)
toasted French bread
Mozzarella cheese
Preparation

Melt in a large pot the butter and saute sliced onions until golden.
Add salt, Worcestershire sauce, sugar, flour and a dash of pepper.
Add water and beef consomme.
Simmer for 30 minutes.
Add sherry.
